Abstract:
To prevent a light source from being consumed uselessly when a user of a projector has failed in authentication.
A projector 1 includes mode setting means 202 capable of setting either a first mode that lights a light source 11 at the start of the projector 1 and projects a predetermined authentication screen to perform authentication and a second mode that does not light the light source 11 to perform authentication. Also, authentication means 201 sets the first mode to the mode setting means 202 if the authentication succeeds and sets the second mode to the mode setting means 202 if the authentication fails.
