To provide a projector having structure for securing a space distance and a creepage distance and preventing the light of a lamp and air from being leaked from the wire outlet of a lamp case.

An insulation cover 25 is attached along the edge of the wire outlet formed on the lamp case 15 of the lamp unit 10. An aperture part 251 for leading out a wire of the insulation cover 25 is covered with a lid 26. Consequently even when the lamp case 15 is formed of metal, the creepage distance and the space distance between an electrode terminal 115 and the lamp case 15 are secured, and the safety of the projector is improved. Since the insulation cover 25 and the lid 26 are attached to the wire outlet 152 formed on the lamp case 15, the light radiated from the lamp and the air heated by the lamp are prevented from being leaked from the wire outlet 152.
