The projector includes: a projection part projecting an image based on an input image signal; a projection light shape change means changing the shape of projection light projected by the projection part; a control part 120 controlling the operation of the projection light shape change means; and an operation signal input part 112 receiving an operation signal corresponding to operation contents to output the operation signal to the control part 120. When receiving the operation signal to change the shape of the projection light from the operation signal input part 112, the control part 120 instructs the projection light shape change means to change the shape of the projection light, and the projection light shape change means changes the projection light to a spotlight-like shape based on the instructions.
