To provide a projector capable of obtaining a clue to identify a user having tried an unlawful use.
When the projector is turned on by the user, a control part 20 determines whether or not an image signal is input to an input terminal 25a based on a detection signal input from an image signal detecting part 27. When an image signal is input to at least any input terminal 25a, the user is made to input a personal identification number. After that, the control part 20 performs authentication processing based on the personal identification number input by the user. When authentication is not approved, an image processing part 28 is designated to save image information for one screen stored in a frame memory 28a at that time, that is, image information (static image information) of a still image extracted from the image signal in an image saving part 29.
