The projector 1 includes: an image signal input part (input terminal group 30) for input of an image signal thereto; a light source 11; a light modulation device (liquid-crystal light bulb 12) for forming an image by modulating light emitted from the light source 11 in accordance with the image signal; a projection optical system (projection lens 13) for projecting the image formed by the light modulation device; an imaging part 40 for imaging a region including a projected image region projected by the projection optical system; an encoder part 50 for encoding a shot image shot by the imaging part 40 to form encoded data; and a data output part (USB communication part 51) for output of the encoded data through a predetermined communication means.
