Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector which can realize a bright projection image with the high contrast ratio while combining a reflection type liquid crystal device and an integrator optical system.
SOLUTION: The spacing between reflection planes 24b and 24d of the light guide body 20 is set into SY/SX<MY/MX by narrowing it according as it advances to the injection end face 26 form the incidence end face 22. An SX is the placement spacing of the X axial direction of the light source image S, an SY is the placement spacing of Y axial direction of the light source image S, an MX is the length of the X axial direction of the incidence end face of the light guide body, and am MY is the length of Y axial direction of the incidence end face of the light transmission body. The polarized light separating performance in a polarizing beam splitter disposed before the reflection type liquid crystal device, thereby, is maintainable in the comparatively high state, and the bright projection image with the high contrast ratio can be obtained.
