Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a propeller for a ship having a novel structure capable of propelling the ship in to and fro direction with no use of a screw.SOLUTION: The propeller for a ship includes a body 12 that rotates around a rotating shaft 14 that extends in the propulsion direction of the ship, an intake port 16 provided to a surface of the body, a discharge port 18 provided on the surface of the body, and a communication path which connects the intake port with the discharge port. The intake port is arranged further ahead of the discharge port in the propulsion direction, and the discharge port is arranged further outside of the intake port in radial direction from the rotating shaft. In addition a discharge direction conversion mechanism 140 is further provided which is arranged at such position as receives the water discharged from the discharge port, to receive the discharged water, and converts the discharge direction to at least ahead of the propulsion direction, for retreating the ship.
