PURPOSE: To reduce fuel cost of a liquefied natural gas transportation boat by driving a gas turbine by means of boiled-off gas of the liquefied natural gas and supplementing a lack of power of the gas turbine by a Diesel engine.
CONSTITUTION: Boiled-off gas of liquefied natural gas is used as fuel for a gas turbine 1 and a rotary shaft thereof is linked to a propeller shaft 6 via a gear mechanism 4 so as to provide a proper revolution speed for a propeller 5. If the power of the gas turbine 1 is varied because of a variation in quantity of produced boiled-off gas, another turning power for supplementing the variation is applied from a Diesel engine 2 to the propeller shaft 6. In addition, a turning power is, if needed, applied thereto from a steam turbine 3. Fuel cost of a liquefied natural gas transportation boat may be therefore reduced and moreover, the propelling system can be simplified.
