Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a medicine consisting of an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor(ACE inhibitor), capable of preventing type II diabetes mellitus in a mammalian animal and also useful for preventing a damage in a coronal artery and arteriosclerosis. CONSTITUTION: This preventive medicine for type II diabetes mellitus, consists of an ACE inhibitor, especially the ACE inhibitor containing mercapto group such as captopril and zofenopril. As the ACE inhibitor, a phosphonate-substituted amino acid or imino acid, a proline derivative, a mercaptoacyl derivative of a substituted proline, a carboxyalkyldipeptide derivative and an amidate derivative of a phosphone, are used and the administering amount of them are within a range of 0.01-100mg/kg, preferably 0.01-25mg/kg in the case of an oral administration, and 0.005-10mg/kg, preferably 0.01-1mg/kg in the case of a non oral administration. The medicine can be applied to a hypertensive patient having an insulin resistance or a highperinsulinism, a patient having a damaged glucose tolerance, an obesity patient and a normotensive patient.
