Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:3-(2,5-Dihydro-2-oxo-3-furan)-propionic acid of the formula.
USE: It shows antiulcerative and liver-protecting actions and in useful as a medicine.
PREPARATION: Streptomyces rishiriensis A-5969 (FERM No.1394), isolated from the soil in Mayebashi city, Gunma Prefecture, is aerobically cultured in a medium containing a variety of nutrients to give the compound of the formula. The culture mixture is kept at 4W7pH, 28W30°C for 3 days. After completion of the culture, cell bodies are separated by centrifugation, and extracted with an organic solvent such as acetone.
