To provide a propulsion motor device which can continue operation of a propulsion motor by preventing occurrence of overload/overcurrent phenomenon, while preventing abnormal drop of battery voltage.
The propulsion motor device including two systems of power supply path, two power converters for driving two propulsion motors arranged coaxially, and a path switch provided between the power supply paths, further includes a motor controller provided with a current detector for detecting the path current on the upstream side of the path switch, and a current detector for detecting the input current of the power converter, and controlling operation of the two propulsion motors. In accordance with the operation pattern of the propulsion motors, rotational speed of the propulsion motor is limited, and the path current and input current are also limited, respectively.
