PURPOSE: To prepare a propylene polymer having broad molecular weight distribution and excellent moldability, by the single stage polymerization of propylene in the presence of a catalyst comprising a solid component composed of a Ti compound supported on a carrier mainly composed of a Mg compound, and an organo-aluminum compound.
CONSTITUTION: A propylene polymer containing ≤10%, pref. ≤8% of ethylene or other α-olefins, and having an MI of 0.1W100g/10 min (21.6 kg load), a ratio of MI(10 kg load)/MI(2.16 kg load) of ≥21, and a ratio of Mw/Mn of ≥10, is prepared by the single stage (co)polymerization of propylene or a mixture of propylene and ethylene or other α-olefins in the presence of a catalyst comprising (A) a solid component obtained by co-crushing a Mg compound such as MgCl2, a halogenated acyl compound, and a tetra-valent Ti compound, and treating the co-crushed product with a mixture of an organo-aluminum compound and an aromatic carboxylic acid, and (B) an organo-aluminum compound and an aromatic carboxylic acid ester.
