Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R1 is single bond, or 1W5C straight or branched chain alkylene; R2 is 4W7C cycloalkyl substituted with 1W 8C straight or branched chain alkyl; the double bond between the 13 and 14 positions is trans) and its clathrate compound with cyclodextrin.

EXAMPLE: 2-Decarboxy-2-hydroxymethyl-6-oxo-15-( 3-propylcyclopentyl )-16, 17, 18, 19,20-pentanor-PGE1.

USE: It has strong and selective cell protecting action, and is useful for the remedy and prevention of the diseases of the digestive organs (e.g. hepatitis, pancreatitis, etc.), the urinary organs (e.g. nephritis), the respiratory organs (e.g. pneumonia), the circulatory organs (e.g. arrhythmia), etc. caused by cellular disorder.

PROCESS: The compound of formula I can be prepared by hydrolyzing the compound of formula II (R3 is tetrahydropyran-2-yl or 1-ethoxyethyl) under acidic condition.
