Title:
PROTEASE INHIBITOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH09157300
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To obtain the subject new substance, comprising a reactive site for proteases having a specific amino acid sequence and further inhibiting actions on trypsins and elastases without inhibiting thrombins and useful as a biophylactic agent capable of protecting a tissue from damage or degradation.

This new substance is a new proteinic protease inhibitor, comprising an amino acid sequence in a reactive site for proteases contained in an amino acid sequence represented by the formula and provided with properties of having inhibiting actions on trypsins and elastases without any inhibiting actions on thrombins. The substance is useful as a biophylactic agent capable of protecting a tissue from damage or degradation, concretely as a therapeutic agent for juvenile pulmonary emphysema, infant cirrhosis, etc., research, etc., for the active center structure of various proteases. This protease inhibitor is obtained by collecting an mRNA from Tamias sibiricus without the hibernation period, preparing a cDNA library using the mRNA, screening the cDNA library with a probe, integrating the resultant cDNA into a vector and then carrying out the expression thereof in a host cell.
