To provide a protecting film of a lens preventing adhesion of chips of the protecting film onto the surface of the lens and improving working efficiency, process yields and quality when the lens with the surface covered with the protecting film is processed in a lens shape, and a manufacturing method of the protecting film of the lens.
The protecting film formed on the surface of the lens is formed of an organic polymer, and fine particles formed of an inorganic material dispersed and distributed on the organic polymer in a colloid form and fractured together with the lens when the periphery of the lens is processed. The forming method of the protecting film includes: a process to prepare the lens to be processed; a process to mix liquid containing the organic polymer and the fine particles formed of the inorganic material, disperse the fine particles formed of the inorganic material in the liquid in colloid form, and produce source liquid; and a process to coat the source liquid on the surface of the lens to be processed and form the protecting film of the lens.
