Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To offer a power unit which can lessen the malfunction of a load being the output supply destination of a regulator due to the repetition of the detection and cancel of an overvoltage.
SOLUTION: The power unit comprises a regulator 1 and a protection circuit 2 for a regulator. An overvoltage detecting circuit 3 within the protection circuit 2 for a regulator switches off the regulator 1 when it detects the overvoltage. An overvoltage detection frequency judging circuit 4 within the protection circuit 2 for a regulator judges whether overvoltage is detected a specified number of times within a specified time or not based on the output of the overvoltage detecting circuit 3. An overvoltage detection level setting circuit 5 within the protective circuit for a regulator lowers the detection level of the overvoltage detecting circuit 3 when overvoltage is detected a specified number of times within a specified time by the overvoltage detection frequency judging circuit 4.
