A protection circuit (1) comprising a power supply terminal (VDD), a ground terminal (GND), a control unit (11) connected to the power supply terminal and ground terminal, and a supply unit (12) connected to the power supply terminal and ground terminal, prevents a reverse direction voltage from being applied to a circuit unit (C) provided with prescribed functions, and is characterized in that the control unit generates a control potential for controlling the control unit and supply unit according to the potential supplied from the power supply terminal and the potential supplied from the ground terminal, and that the supply unit is configured to be able to supply a current to the circuit unit connected in the subsequent stage on the basis of the potential supplied from the power supply terminal, the potential supplied from the ground terminal, and the control potential generated by the control unit.
