To provide a protection coating method for an electrodeposited film, which can cope with hue of every electrodeposited film, particularly can cope with a change of hue due to supplying a make-up agent having a different hue from the initial one to an existing electrodeposition bath, without losing performance required to the protection coating.

The protection coating method for the electrodeposited film comprises forming the protection film on the article to be coated with a lacquer, in the state that the electrodeposited film is not yet cured or in the state that it has been already dried by baking, after forming the electrodeposition film on the article with a cationic electrodeposition paint, and subsequently drying it by baking, at least when the electrodeposited film is not cured; and is characterized in that the lacquer for the protection coating is a clear lacquer.
