Abstract:
The present invention provides a protection element capable of providing protection against excessive voltage and/or excessive current while enabling the flowing of a larger current. This protection element comprises a PTC element (18) including a laminar PTC element (12), a first conductive metal layer (14) located on one main surface of the laminar PTC element (12) and a second conductive metal layer (16) located on the other surface of the laminar PTC element, an insulating layer (20) located on the second conductive metal layer (16) of the PTC element (18), a temperature fuse member (22) located on the insulating layer (20), a first lead (24) connected to an edge of the temperature fuse member, and a second lead (26) connected to the other edge of the temperature fuse member, a part of the second lead (26) being electrically connected to the second conductive metal layer (16).
