Abstract:
To provide protection structure of a sensor in an exhaust pipe that does not require any electric motors, has a simple structure, and can efficiently protect the sensor from drench within an exhaust pipe.SOLUTION: Since a cover member 8 is rotated nearly around an element 2 by a wing member 12 receiving an exhaust flow when the exhaust flow occurs within an exhaust pipe 3 when an engine is cold-started, water (condensed water) adhered to the cover member 8 or infiltrating the inside of the cover member 8 is blown off, thus protecting the element 2 (sensor 1) covered with the cover member 8 from drench. In the meantime, in a warm-up state of an engine, rotation of the cover member 8 is regulated by pressure contact with the cover member 8 by deformation of a regulating member 13 made of bimetal, and hence a sufficient amount of exhaust can be introduced into the element 2 of the sensor 1, thus ensuring functions of the sensor 1 for evaluating performance of a catalyst.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
