Abstract:

To inexpensively form a protective coating which can utilize abrasive blasting wastes, prevents a structural substrate, particularly an iron-base material, from generating rust and corrosion, and gives a decorative effect.

This method of forming a protective coating comprises forming a thermally sprayed coating consisting of at least one kind selected from aluminum, zinc and an alloy thereof, as an undercoat, on the surface of a base material for structures, and layering at least one thermal sprayed coating consisting of alumina as a finish coat, on the surface of the above thermal sprayed coating.
