Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-chromate protective coating which is particularly useful as a protective coating on iron and iron alloys.
SOLUTION: The non-chromate protective coating and coating solution useful for coating iron and iron alloys, particularly steel, include H2O (water), H3PO4 (phosphoric acid), MgO (magnesium oxide) and Al (aluminum), and V2O5, Ce2 (MoO4)3 or SrWO4 as a corrosion inhibitive component, and have pH satisfying the value in the range of 2.5 to 5.0.
