Title:
PROTECTIVE DEVICE OF GAS TUBE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0684579
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To stabilize the sensitivity of a gas tube protection device by containing barium titanate and titanium in a thermionic glass material layer formed on the surfaces of paired electrodes which constitute a spark gap. CONSTITUTION: In a gas tube protection device 10, one terminal of electrodes 12, 13 and 14 is earthed, and at least one of the remaining electrode is connected to an active line. When a sufficiently high voltage appears at any electrode, an inert gas sealed in a central space is ionized and discharged so that a voltage is not applied on a device to be protected. To aid in discharging, thermionic glass material layers 15, 16 and 17 made of a mixture of Na2 O, BaO, B2 O3 , Al2 O3 and SiO2 are usually applied on the surface of the electrodes 12,..., 14 with a thickness of about 10,000Å. 10 to 25wt.% of BaTiO3 and Ti are respectively added to the thermionic glass material layers 15, 16 and 17 without setting any condition, and therefore, a breakdown voltage is stabilized within the range of 300 to 400DC volts.
