To provide a lightweight, flexible and high moisture-permeable protective material and protective clothing capable of adsorbing and removing a micro amount of gaseous organic chemical substance permeating a moisture permeable film layer by a gas adsorptive layer, protecting a wearer against abrasion and flaw generated by the use or intrusion of the gas from connecting parts and fastener parts and suppressing the heat stress of the wearer.

This protective material and protective clothing is provided with at least one layer or more of the moisture permeable layer 2 with a moisture permeability of not less than 60 g/m2 and not more than 850 g/m2 and a layer including the gas adsorptive substance (a gas adsorptive layer 3) respectively, and is disposed with at least one layer or more moisture permeable film layer on the outside of the gas adsorptive layer 3 viewed from the inside of the clothes.
