Title:
PROTECTIVE WATER-REPELLENT COMPOSITION FOR COATING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH10212445
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To obtain the subject composition excellent in workability and capable of exhibiting good water-repelling performance and durability by adding starch as an active component to a protective water-repellent for coating.

This composition comprises a protective water-repellent containing an organic solvent as a base component and used for coatings, and starch preferably in an amount of about 1-50wt.%. The protective water-repellent base material used in the composition is obtained e.g. by dissolving or dispersing one or more kinds of waxes such as carnauba wax or paraffin wax, silicone oils such as dimethylsilicone, oils or fats such as lanolin, fatty acids such as stearic acids, etc., in a solvent such as kerosene, ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. The addition of starch enables to hold the shape of the water-repellent without affecting the water-repellency and the durability. It can thereby be expected that the wax is decreased and that the workability is improved.
