To provide a protector 1 for an indwelled needle with wings by which operation for housing the indwelled needle 5 with the wings into a protector main body is simple and a needle stabbing accident and infection can surely be avoided.
The protector 1a for the indwelled needle 5 with the wings consists essentially of: an outer cylinder 2; a gutter-state member 3; and an engaging means for engaging the outer cylinder 2 and the gutter-state member 3 with each other. On the peripheral wall of the outer cylinder 2, a pair of slits 7a which are obtained by cutting from a distal end along an axial direction to be longer than the hollow needle 5b and to which both of wing pieces 6 can respectively inserted are formed. Both of the side edges of the gutter-state member 3 are positioned in the neighborhood of the slit 7a internally set in the outer cylinder 2. On both of the side edges of the gutter-state member 3, projecting pieces foldable inward are respectively connected. The distal ends of the axial direction of the projecting pieces form tilting parts tilting toward the side edge of the gutter-state member 3. The proximal ends of the axial direction of the projecting pieces form an engaging part for engaging the wing pieces 6.
