NEW MATERIAL:A bit substituted -7, 12-diethenyl-3,8,13,17-tetramethyl-2, 18- di(2'-carboxyethyl)porphinatogermanium expressed by formula I (Y is halogen or OH).
EXAMPLE: Bischloro-7, 12-diethenyl-3, 8, 13, 17-tetramethyl-2, 18-di(2'-carboxyethyl)porphinatogermanium.
USE: A medicine having ameliorant action of hepatic dysfunction and carcinostatic action. The inorganic salt of the compound expressed by formula I has a high solubility in water, and the compound is administered orally or parenterally in a dose of 30W500mg/day as a remedy for the hepatic dysfunction caused by gallstone or cholocystitis.
PROCESS: A compound expressed by formula II is reacted with an acid, e.g. a hydrohalogenic acid, or an alkali, e.g. NaOH or KOH, in the presence or absence of a solvent to give the compound expressed by formula I.
