Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide polyamide yarn with higher water absorbing and water vapor absorbing performances than those of cotton by one process by irradiating polyamide yarn with electron rays and then providing the polyamide yarn with a metallic salt of (meth)acrylic acid.
CONSTITUTION: Polyamide yarn is provided with electron rays and then provided with an aqueous solution of a metallic salt (preferably Na salt, K salt or Ca salt) of (meth)acrylic acid, the monomer is efficiently and readily subjected to graft polymerization to provide the polyamide yarn with high water vapor absorbing performances than those of cotton. The irradiation condition of electron rags preferably 1-20Mrad, especially 5-10Mrad.
