To provide a public power supply system enabling safe power usage without causing any erroneous operation at a public place.
Receptacles 11 for receiving power from a distribution line 13 are installed in advance in a predetermined public place, a communication terminal 32 for requesting power supply to a receptacle 11 is connected to a center server 31 via the Internet 33. Upon receiving a request of power supply to a receptacle 11, the center server 31 outputs a current supply command to a current control section 14 via a communication network (the Internet 24 or a telephone network 25). When the current supply command is given and information for conduction to the receptacle which is generated by using a remote operation preventing device installed in the proximity of the receptacle is given, the current control section 14 permits conduction of current to the receptacle 11.
