To provide a pulley unit capable of preventing the degradation of durability of a bearing which relatively and rotatably supports a pulley and a pulley hub.
Between a flange 7 provided on the outer diameter face of the pulley hub 3 which is incorporated in the pulley 1 and relatively and rotatably supported by the bearing 4, and a retaining ring 8, a fixed cam disc 9 and a movable cam disc 10 are incorporated, whose rotation is prevented by the pulley 1 and whose axially outward movement is prevented by the retaining ring 8, and which is rotatable relative to the pulley hub 3 and movable in the axial direction, respectively. A torque cam 14 is provided between the opposed faces of both cam discs. Between the movable cam disc 10 and the flange 7, a multiple disc friction clutch 20 and an elastic member 30 for biasing the multiple disc friction clutch 20 toward the movable cam disc 10 are incorporated so that the flange 7 and a washer 11 receive the reaction of axial force loaded on the movable cam disc 10 with the thrust of the elastic member 30 and the operation of the torque cam 14 to avoid the thrust and the reaction from being loaded on the bearing 4.
