To improve noise cancellation effects in a pulse counting device capable of dealing with pulse commands outputted from both an open collector and a line driver.
A pulse counting device comprises input terminals (a), (c) connected to a commander 100 of an open collector, input terminals (b), (c) connected to a commander of a line driver, a changeover switch S1 which switches a signal input destination to the terminals (a), (b), a photocoupler 5 to which a pulse command from the commander 100 or the commander of the line driver is inputted via the changeover switch S1, a changeover switch S2 which switches the output pulse to a noise filter 7 or 8 having an open collector or line driver output cutoff frequency, a counter circuit 9 which counts the number of output pulses from the noise filters 7, 8, and a CPU 10 which switches the changeover switches S1, S2 in such a manner that the pulse is inputted to the noise filter 7 or 8 in accordance with circuit systems of the commanders.
