PURPOSE: To obtain a large dynamice range and to detect the time position of an input pulse signal with high, precision by applying logarithmic amplification and delaying and shifting the result in level and comparing both pulse signals with each other.
CONSTITUTION: An input pulse signal is supplied to a logarithmic amplifier 41, and the amplified pulse signal is delayed at a delay circuit 42 by a time γ much shorter than a rise time and then shifted in level negatively by a specific amount El at a bias circuit 43. A comparing circuit 44 outputs a detection output pulse signal which has width equal to the coincidence interval between both pulse signals when the output pulse signal F of the delay circuit 42 coincides with the output pulse signal E of the bias circuit 43. The logarithmic amplifier has the capability to realize and input dynamic range and the time position of the pulse is detected with high precision.
