PURPOSE: To provide a pulverized coal burner in which NOx concentration at the time of a low load can be reduced.
CONSTITUTION: A secondary air nozzle 103 and a tertiary air nozzle 104 are provided on the outer periphery of a fuel nozzle 102 for conveying pulverized coal with the primary air. Two swirling flow generators 113, 114 are provided at least at one of the nozzles at the positional relationship parallel to the flow of the air. The swirling flows of the two generators can be so set that the one is stronger. The air can be supplied only from the one generator under the condition in which the air flow rate is low. Thus, since the swirling strength of the combustion air can be enhanced, NOx concentration generated by the combustion of the coal can be reduced. Since the swirling strength at the time of low load can be raised, pulverized coal flame is stably held thereby to reduce the concentration.
