To provide a pump device for supplying a consistently stable flow amount independently of a change in pipe resistance while eliminating the need for special incidental equipment.
The pump device comprises a pump casing 1, a canned motor pump having a canned motor 6 stored in the pump casing 1 and an impeller 8 fixed to a spindle 7 of the canned motor 6, a frequency converter F fixed to the outer face of the pump casing 1 for supplying power to the canned motor 6, a detecting means for detecting a current value for a current to be supplied to the canned motor 6, and a control part previously storing a relationship between a frequency and the current value and provided in a frequency converter F. The control part compares a frequency and a current value in the case of actual operation with the frequency and the current value previously stored therein and changes a frequency generated by the frequency converter F so that the current value for the current to be supplied to the canned motor 6 matches to the relationship between the frequency and the current value previously stored therein.
