To correct the nonconformity of a pumping control system to the nature of ground water.
The levels of water in pumping wells W equipped with motor-driven valves 8 positioned at a few points and water in observation wells located at a few points to correspond to the pumping wells W are measured by means of monometers 9 and the like, and the aperture of each motor-driven valve 8 is automatically controlled in real-time at an accuracy of 0.1% for a 100% of fully opening so that the difference between a set level of water and a measured level of water is dissolved. When the difference (well loss) in level of water between inside and outside of the casing of the pumping well W is large and when the rate of decrease in level of ground water is slow, the amount of water pumped from each well is measured with an electromagnetic flowmeter 12 or the like, and the permeation characteristic of the ground required to estimate the relationship between the flow rate of pumped water and the level of the ground water is automatically calculated through reverse analysis from the measurements of the amount of water pumped from the pumping well W and the level of water in the observation well A during system operation. The present level of the ground water is estimated from the measurement of the amount of water pumped, and the aperture of each motor-driven valve 8 is automatically controlled in real-time at an accuracy of 0.1% for a 100% of fully opening, so that the difference between the present level of the ground water and the set level of the ground water is eliminated.
