Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a liquid CO2 pump lowered in back pressure by forced feeding of liquid CO2 from a reservoir pressurized to the high pressure suitable for supercritical fluid extraction by using the vapor pressure in the liquid CO2 without using an overpressure of helium in the reservoir.
CONSTITUTION: A forced feeding apparatus 12 for supercritical fluid extraction has an inlet means connected to a supercritical fluid supply source and an outlet means for supplying forced feeding fluid to a press-in container. The apparatus has a pump head block 300 having a forced feeding chamber 33b communicating with the inlet means and the outlet means, a piston 304, an inlet valve means for controlling the flow rate of the fluid into the forced feeding chamber means and an outlet valve means for controlling the flow rate of the fluid from the forced feeding chamber means. Further, the apparatus has an inlet conduit means delineating the flow passage between the inlet valve and, a pumping chamber, an outlet conduit means delineating the flow passage between the forced feeding means and the outlet valve means, a cooling assembly 306 having a thermoelectric cooling element 386 by air cooling for cooling both of the inlet means and a pump head block 300, and a heat exchanger 763.
