To provide a pumping device for a paint circulation system at relatively low cost.
The pumping device for the paint circulation system is provided with a reciprocating pump 13 and is characterized by an AC induction motor 15, a rotary/linear motion converter 16 connecting output of the AC induction motor 15 to a drive input of the reciprocating pump 13, an AC frequency inverter 24a controlling the induction motor, a switch means 26 rotating the induction motor 15 in a regular and a reverse direction at a terminal of a stroke of the reciprocating pump 13, and a surge eliminator 28 communicating to an output side of the pump 13 and boosting pressure of the paint circulation system during reverse stroke of the pump. The surge eliminator 28 is an active surge eliminator 28, and a volume of a gas chamber of the active surge eliminator 28 is increased by an auxiliary pressure chamber 28a connected to the gas chamber.
