To facilitate manufacture and reduce cost by providing a base plate formed of a thin plate, and cutting edges and a rule formed of strip material, and jointing the cutting edges and the rule to the base plate through joint metal.

A punching die 10 of a punching machine is formed by fixing cutting edges 12 and a rule 13 to a base plate 11 through a joint metal layer 14. The base plate 11 is a metal plate of about 0.5 mm in thickness. The cutting edge 12 is a strip material of triangular cross section, and the rule 13 is formed of a strip material of square cross section and circular arc shape at the top part. The cutting edge 12 and the rule 13 respectively have a thickness of about 0.4-0.7 mm and a width of about 1mm. The cutting edge 12 and rule 13 of such constitution can be formed by rolling or the like, but in order to sharpen the edge part of the cutting edge 12 and to increase strength by quenching, they are formed by drawing line using diamond or the like and formed into requested length and bent shape. The punching die can therefore be manufactured very easily and used for various purposes.
