To provide a purchase amount display system which enables customers to check money spent on purchase timely with a simple operation while shopping in a super market or the like.
The system is provided with a purchase amount display device 1 which reads out bar codes printed on merchandize packages to transmit bar code information by wireless communication and displays the total amount of purchase based on the individual merchandize prices received and a shelf label device 3 which receives the bar code information transmitted from the purchase amount display device 1 and returns merchandize price data. As a result, the bar codes printed on the merchandize are read out to calculate and display the merchandize prices received from the shelf label device 3 thereby achieving an automatic response to the alteration of prices through a tie up operation with an electric shelf label system 2. For example, calculation based on the prices equivalent to the POS registered prices eliminates due labor and is highly convenient for customers free from troubles involved in the prices.
