PURPOSE: To purify an alkylsulfuric acid ester salt at a low cost, without causing the problems such as the separation and extraction of a surfactant and a solvent, by efficiently removing unreacted oil component from an aqueous solution of an alkylsulfuric acid ester salt.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution of an alkylsulfuric acid ester salt is produced by sulfonating or sulfating a 8W22C aliphatic monohydric alcohol and neutralizing the product. The solution is added with ethyl alcohol and, as necessary, water to adjust the composition of the solution in such a manner as to contain 70W200pts.wt. of ethyl alcohol based on 100pts.wt. of water contained in the aqueous solution and to contain 9W30wt.% of the alkylsulfuric acid ester salt. The solution is made to contact with n-hexane using a pulsating perforated tray tower to remove the unreacted oily component and obtain the objective compound.
