To provide a method for purification and concentration of biological molecules manufactured by synthesis of oligonucleotide, synthetic DNA and synthetic RNA or the like by means of ultrafiltration.
Synthetic biological molecules are purified / concentrated by utilizing an ultrafiltration (UF) membrane having a nominal molecular weight cut off (NMWCO) of from about 0.5KD to about 10KD wherein a membrane surface has a charge that is either positive or negative. A charged UF membrane is used to purify and concentrate the synthetic biological molecules by using a charged surface either to repel the synthetic biological molecules and to retain them in a residual liquid or to preferentially attract the synthetic biological molecules for filtration through the membrane. By using the membrane with large hole size, a flow rate can be increased and thereby a treating rate and economical efficiency are improved and products can be obtained in higher yield.
