Abstract:
PURPOSE: To purify crude organic carbonate obtained from specific raw materials such as organic halides, alkali carbonates, etc., effectively, by treating the crude carbonate with an acid or oxidizing agent, and distilling the product.
CONSTITUTION: Crude organic carbonate (e.g. dialkyleneglycol bisallyl carbonate) is separated from a mixture obtained by reacting an organic halide, an alkali carbonate, an alcohol and carbon dioxide in the presence of a catalyst. The crude carbonate is purified by treating with an acid (e.g. hydrochloric acid, formic acid, etc.) or an oxidizing agent (e.g. hydrogen peroxide), washing thoroughly with water to remove the acid or the oxidizing agent, and distilling the product.
