Abstract:

To provide a purification method for dicumyl peroxide capable of giving high-purity DCP crystal containing little fine crystals and having narrow particle size distribution width and suppressed agglomeration tendency.

This process for the purification of dicumyl peroxide comprises a dissolution step to dissolve crude dicumyl peroxide in a solvent under heating, a crystallization step to precipitate dicumyl peroxide crystals by cooling and a separation step to separate the precipitated dicumyl peroxide crystals. The crystallization step is carried out by adding a seed crystal of dicumyl peroxide having an angle of repose of 30-45°. The diameter of the seed crystal of dicumyl peroxide is preferably in the range of 250-710μm.
