Abstract:
PURPOSE: To purify dimethylamine borane by removing dimethylamine hydrochloride from crude dimethylamine borane.
CONSTITUTION: Dimethylamine borane is synthesized from sodium borohydride and dimethylamine hydrochloride using THF as the solvent. After the reaction, the solid residue is separated by filtration, the filtrate is mixed with ≥0.1wt.% of water based on the THF and a necessary amount of sodium borohydride is added to the mixture to completely remove the dimethylamine hydrochloride.
