Abstract:

PURPOSE: To effectively remove the dusts, odors, etc. in exhaust gases by passing the exhaust gases in a foam chamber and allowing the same to contact the foam layer.

CONSTITUTION: The foam chamber is constituted by usually using chemical liq. of high surface activity as a foaming agent and filling the formed foam into the chamber. The soot, dust, etc. in exhaust gases are effectively adsorbed mainly by the surface tension of the foam and the odorous materials mainly by the adsorptive force of the foam. For example, in an embodiment 1, a foaming agent spraying device is provided in the lower part of a vessel of a 10t capacity, and an exhaust gas is blasted from the lower part to make a foam chamber. A number of kinds of nonionic surfactants are mixed and are used for the foaming agent. The agent is diluted to 10% with water and is sprayed. The exhaust gas flow is 500m3/min and contains cigarette dust. As a result, no cigarrette dust is observed in the exhaust gas past the chamber and the effect by the foam chamber was confirmed.
