Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a polycarbonate having a high purity and excellent electrical insulation properties by removing a basic substance contained in a polycarbonate, prepared in the presence of a basic catalyst, by washing with water and/or by contact with an inorganic ion exchanger. CONSTITUTION:A polycarbonate is prepared in the presence of a basic catalyst (e.g. NaOCH3), and the contained basic substance is removed from this polycarbonate by washing with water and/or by contact with an inorganic ion exchanger (e.g. zeolite). According to the above process, a polycarbonate freed from the basic substance and excellent in electrical insulation properties can be easily prepared.
