Abstract:
PURPOSE: To minimize the loss of a saturated halogenated hydrocarbon and reduce the content of unsaturated impurities in the saturated halogenated hydrocarbon in the purification of the saturated halogenated hydrocarbon employed as a foaming agent, cooling medium, washing medium, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A saturated hydrocarbon such as R-123, R-124, R-134a, R-141b or R-225c containing unsaturated impurities is reacted with a hypochlorite salt in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst, and the obtained reaction products are transferred from the saturated halogenated hydrocarbon into a water phase to reduce the content of the uaturated impurities.
