Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a substantial vapor phase pollution purifying method excellent in cost and operability with respect to the purification of air pollution by bringing trichloroethylene TCE in a vapor phase into contact with bacteria originating from the intestines of a white ant having TCE decomposing capacity to decompose TCE.
CONSTITUTION: A worker white ant of a Takasago white ant is taken in a laboratory dish and 95% alcohol is poured in the dish to sterilize the surface of the white ant. Next, the surface of the white ant is washed twice with an M9 culture medium and ethanol is removed. The intestines of the white ant are extracted by tweezers after washing treatment to be ground down in the M9 culture medium to obtain a liquid mixture containing intestines ground matter. The liquid mixture extracted from the intestines of the white ant is added to the M9 culture medium in a vial bottle containing phenol as an inducer. After air aerated in a TCE sturated soln. is allowed to flow to the soln. in the vial bottle and the vial bottle is perfectly hermetically closed to perform shaking culture. Bacteria decomposing high concn. TE and excellent in antibiotic resistance are obtained from the intestines of the white ant.
