PURPOSE: To rapidly purify hydrogen by connecting a couple of hydrogen purifying containers in a heat exchangeable state while reversing the hydrogen inlet sides and the hydrogen outlet sides of the containers, respectively and by carrying out the occlusion and release of hydrogen at the same time.
CONSTITUTION: A vacuum pump 16 is worked to remove air in hydrogen purifying cntainers 7, 7' and piping by suction, and by opening the on-off plug 2 of a hydrogen storing container 1, gaseous hydrogen is allowed to be occluded in a hydrogen occluding alloy 9 in the container 7 through a filter 10. When gaseous hydrogen reaches saturation, a valve 12 is closed, a valve 12' is opened, and simultaneously valves 13, 14 are opened. Thus, the occluded hydrogen of the alloy 9 is fed to a pipe 8 through a filter 11. At the same time, gaseous hydrogen in the container 1 is allowed to be occluded in a hydrogen occluding alloy 9' through a filter 10'. During the time, heat generated by the occlusion of gaseous hydrogen is efficiently applied to heat absorbed by the release of gaseous hydrogen through a fin type heat exchanger 17, and purified gaseous hydrogen is taken out continuously and efficiently.
