Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve quality, by bringing an unsaturated polymer obtained by polymerizing an ethynyl group-containing monomer in the presence of a transition metal compound catalyst into contact with a phosphoric acid ester, eluting and removing the residual catalyst and pieces thereof in the polymer to purify the polymer.

CONSTITUTION: An unsaturated polymer, e.g. polyacetylene, etc., obtained by polymerizing an ethynyl group-containing monomer, preferably (substituted) acetylene in the presence of a transition metal compound catalyst, e.g. TiCl4, etc., into contact with a phosphoric acid ester, preferably phosphate, phosphite or phosphonate, preferably in a readily recoverable organic solvent to elute and remove the residual catalyst and/or pieces thereof in the polymer and purify the polymer. The purified polymer is suitable as electrically conductive resin materials, molecular switching materials, etc.
